Giving Life to an Old Twist Out

Anyone who sees me on at least a weekly basis knows that my hair style of choice is a twist-out. This quick and easy semi-protective style is cute, long-lasting, and not as damaging as using heat.

But what do you do when your twist-out isn't looking as fly as it did two days ago?

Well here are a few steps you can take to help spruce it up.

The Night Before
  • Wet your slightly with a spray bottle (my spray bottle includes distilled water, a bit of conditioner, and a bit of moisturizer).
  • Apply a cream moisturizer. Be sure to use a small amount for you whole head.
  • Twist your hair in half the amount you did to create the style. For example, I mostly create 8 twists originally so for this I would make 4 twists.
  • Don't apply oil.
  • Put on a bonnet and hit the sack.
Next Morning
  • In the morning you'll want to do your hair at least 30 minutes before you leave the house.
  • Take out the twists and shake those strands. You're trying to loosen up the curls.
  • Then apply a bit of oil all through your hair.
  • Now, its up to you to do what you want with your hair. When my twists are older I tend to wear humps and clips.
The reason I like to apply oil in the morning is that you want your hair to dry that night and the oil isn't assisting that. Plus, I bit of oil soaking in right before you leave gives you that shine and protection need for the day ahead.
